Welcome to Scholarship Success 101. It seems like it was only yesterday you brought home your little bundle of joy home from the hospital and now they almost ready to leave the nest and start life on the own, gearing up to go to the college of there dreams.
Then life smacks you in the face, how are you going to pay for your child's college education. I remember my father saying on many occassions saying "Lord I don't know how you kids make it today" he was reffering to the cost of things how much things had gone up since he was young. You see my father was the 12th of 13 children he was born in 1923. He's been gone nine years now, and I am starting to think the same thing now.
When I started college in 1981 my tuition was $345.00 per semester, now at the same university it is $2876.00 per semester. It has gone up over 800 percent that is insane. I was able to pay my fees by cutting grass other odd jobs during the summers and with financial aid covering my books and school supplies.
When I graduated from college, I did not have any student loan debt. Not a lot of people can say that. In an article written by Melanie Hanson in the Education Data Initiative
